Bryan Ricchetti coheads Cornerstone Research’s antitrust and competition practice, and serves on the firm’s board of directors. Dr. Ricchetti specializes in antitrust and labor matters. He has particular expertise in economic and statistical issues that arise when assessing antitrust impact, market power, class certification, hiring and compensation decisions, and discrimination. Among the industries that Dr. Ricchetti focuses on are retail, food and agriculture, internet competition, technology, and sports economics. Who’s Who Legal has recognized him as a Future Leader in the competition field.

As a consultant, Dr. Ricchetti has addressed litigation matters involving a range of competition issues, including horizontal price fixing, vertical exclusionary practices, and attempted monopolization or monopsony. For example, he worked on a set of complex cases in the dairy industry, including Food Lion et al. v. Dean Foods et al., in which he analyzed class certification, liability, and damages issues. Dr. Ricchetti has also consulted on antitrust regulatory disputes and merger reviews, including the Sysco–U.S. Foods proposed merger.

Dr. Ricchetti has consulted on multiple high-profile labor matters involving issues of monopsony power, discrimination, employee/independent contractor status, compensation, and promotion. His recent case experience includes analyzing class certification and impact issues in a gender discrimination matter focused on pay and promotion outcomes at a large U.S. retailer.

As an expert witness, Dr. Ricchetti has been retained to analyze questions of antitrust impact and damages, as well the pro-competitive effects of a horizontal agreement. He was deposed and testified at trial in a U.S. federal court in a case concerning statistical issues related to forecasting the time of an uncertain event. In addition, Dr. Ricchetti has filed three expert reports in federal court in labor matters involving questions of lost wages, promotion and hiring, and discrimination.

Dr. Ricchetti has spoken at American Bar Association (ABA) events, including serving as the testifying expert in the mock trial at both the 2015 ABA Antitrust Spring Meeting and the 2015 ABA Antitrust Law & Economics Institute for Judges. He has coauthored several articles related to economic and statistical issues that arise in litigation. He was the contributing author to the chapter, “Applying Econometrics to Assess Market Definition and Market Power,” in the ABA Section of Antitrust Law’s handbook on Econometrics: Legal, Practical, and Technical Issues.

Prior to joining Cornerstone Research, Dr. Ricchetti served as an economist at the U.S. Census Bureau and an analyst at MDRC, a public policy think tank.
